Annual Day
Time stood still as truth danced on the stage -
Beauty was everywhere, and children were her adornments --
Words were but petals on the flowers of wonder,
and the night knew that her moment had arrived –
Yes! This was the instinctive, heartfelt outpouring of none than the versatile, creative personality Mr. Tom Alter, the Chief Guest for the 41st Annual Day ‘2009.
In order to satiate the high expectations of our discerning audience, the school once again rose to the occasion in its presentation of the ballet ensemble ‘Atmavalokanam’. The one hour grandiose show explored the eternal quest of man for divinity in the process we displayed the richness of Indian spiritual thought as well. Through initiating a dialogue between man and God, it attempted to explain why our forefathers were not satisfied in worshipping God in the elements of Nature. Since his own undoing led to natural calamities, his simple faith was shattered and so he sought God in various iconographic images. It was man’s own complex thinking that provided elaborate symbolism to God, which was explained through the delineation of Lord Ganesh.
Yet man remained unsatisfied and so he conceived the Gyanmarg, the Bhaktimarg and the Karmamarg. Episodes of Adishankaracharya , the tales of Nandanar and Sant Namdev, as also the contribution of Dr. M. S. Swaminathan to Green Revolution, Dr.V. Kurien to white revolution and Dr.Abdul Kalam in missile and space program depicted them respectively. However, the onslaught of evil sources unnerves man and tends to shake his faith in God. He wonders how can such godlessness prevails in God’s scheme of things. In order to maintain one’s peace and sanity amidst this modern day bane of existence, one needs to look within, where dwells God, and seek answers for oneself. Also, it is imperative to look at positivity around and through education, enlighten our minds to reach this heightened realm of awareness and attain a state of bliss.
The meritorious students along with the House that won the Major Vohra and Major Raina Trophy were felicitated on the occasion at the hands of the Chief Guest and Dr.Vijaypat Singhania, Chairman, Board of Governors. The coveted Gopalkrishna Singhania Gold Medalist was also honoured. The evening also saw the conferring of “Excellence Awards” to teachers who have excelled in their respective fields.
