Inaugural Function:
The reception committee for the Chief Guest comprised the Principal, the Cultural Head, other Functional Heads, the Librarians, the Captain & the Vice Captains of the school. Prof. Y. K. Bhushan was welcomed in a simple but warmth filled ceremony and escorted directly to Malhar Auditorium for the cultural programme as he was running late.
The cultural programme began with a soulful rendition of the Saraswati Vandana by the students. Floral tributes were offered to the Chief Guest and the Principal during the welcome speech by Shubham Rathi. A beautiful invocation to Ganesha by the sixth standard choir in Sanskrit and Marathi was followed by a moving tribute to the libraries of the school by Mrinalini Nath. The important role of folk music in India was demonstrated by a folk dance performed with great rhythm and verve by our students. After this the Principal - Mrs. Revathi Srinivasan introduced the Chief Guest. This was followed by a pithy speech delivered by Prof. Y. K. Bhushan which greatly appealed to the younger generation sitting in the auditorium.
At the end of this function the Chief Guest was escorted to the Amritvarshini Hall with a short stop at the Junior Library to write a message to the students. A beautiful sight awaited all at the Hall. Our Art department had surpassed itself this year. Keeping in mind the theme of “Change” and the fact that Prof. Bhushan is from the field of Finance and Management the Art department had arranged for a display of a rotating coin which displayed an ancient coin as well as a modern one. The Exhibition Halls were impressively arrayed with a huge variety of books. The Gymnasium wore a festive look with colorful buntings and balloons. The Chief Guest cut the ribbon to great applause and then lit the traditional lamp. He was then taken around the halls to see the collection of books.
The Inaugural Function was followed by the editorial meet in the Senior Library. Junior and Senior Section editors and assistant editors asked Prof. Bhushan pertinent questions in relation to his career and life experience. These were answered in the same fervor as that of those doing the asking.
The 33rd Annual Book Exhibition was met with a fabulous response from parents, teachers and other Thaneites. All the stalls were heavily patronized and the organizers were left beaming. In all, due to the contribution of everyone involved this exhibition was a success.

Prof Y K Bhushan's Speech
Prof. Y. K. Bhushan in his address spoke about the importance of change in today’s world by explaining the various concepts of change that have been explained in books like “Blur” and “The World is Flat”. He emphasized on the ever increasing importance of connectivity and change that is being witnessed now. He implored the students to be not a mere witness to this phenomenon but to be proactive and alert, so as to, become the change makers of the world. He further reasoned that the change makers have to imbibe in them qualities like to empathise the viewpoints of others first before convincing them of their own. He also elaborated on the need to inculcate the spirit to make a difference in the world. He exhorted the students to always endeavour to make a difference for the better in other people’s lives stating that even if we could make one life successful it would be a huge contribution to the society. He asked students to never leave the world of books as it gives them the chance to be in the company of the minds of great men. The invaluable treasures that these books hold should be the prized possession of every reader. He congratulated the school for its endeavour to expose the students to books by organizing such magnificent book exhibitions and complimented the well maintained libraries of the school.
