We, the students of Class XI, of Singhania School were honoured to have Dr. (Mrs.) A. Anil – Assistant Professor in Biochemistry, as our guest to tell us about pursuing our career in pure sciences. She works in UDCT (University Department of Chemical Technology) which is a chemical engineering research institute located in Mumbai. It focuses on training and research in various branches of chemical engineering, chemical technology and pharmacy.
The focus of her lecture was on the advancement in technology made in the past few years and how we should consider ourselves lucky to have born in this era. Dr. Anil pointed out the difference between the two eras based on the acceptance of scientific knowledge, while earlier free knowledge was not encouraged, today people are more broad-minded and accept changes easily. She also mentioned as to how essential it is for students like us to understand and visualize things in a better way. While not forgetting to mention the drawbacks of technological advances. Mrs. Anil impressed upon us the need to protect Mother Earth. She was also successful in opening up our minds to explore the various career options that lay before us today.
We felt the talk was really essential to help us realize the benefits of science by listing out the positive and negative aspects of it. We have been learning to conserve nature right from our lower classes but we have never felt it as interesting we did now. Therefore we thank Dr. (Mrs.) A. Anil for her wonderful guidance and for having spent her valuable time with us. Nothing would have been possible without the school’s initiative and hence we even thank our school for providing us such an opportunity.
