Teachers' Day Celebration - 2010- 2011 ...
GOD MADE TEACHERS... God understood our thirst for |
How very true are the above words by some unknown but very wise poet! And because God made Teachers, we need a day to express our gratitude towards them, to take their blessings and together with them affirm our quest for knowledge. Since Teachers’ Day this year fell on a Sunday, we had the celebrations spread out over a week. It started with musical concert ‘RimJhim’ on the evening of 28th , followed by a Teachers’ Day programme put up by students on 3rd September and culminated with another programme arranged by Principal Madam on 6th September.
The students programme on 3rd September was celebrated in a truly Sulonian Spirit. There was solemnity and fun too! To the background of some mellifluous spiritual songs sung by two students, students of std.10th and 12th came into the hall, going from teacher to teacher, offering the Gurudakshina and receiving their blessings and a copy of the ‘Bhagavad Gita’. How very grown-up the children looked in their sarees and suits! The teachers hearts swelled with pride when they looked at these students whom they had taught from their kindergarten days and now were ready for the world outside.
Then it was time for some cultural entertainment provided by the students. There were fun and games for the teachers too. Our male teachers, normally outnumbered by their female colleagues were the stars of the show! The very well co-ordinated orchestra by our talented students was the highlight of the show. This was followed by the release of ‘The Dhira’ and the unveiling of the new-look e-Dhira which will be included in our freshly re -designed website. It is a matter of pride that the e-Dhira was designed by one of our own students. The service staff of the school presented a card to the Principal and teachers of the school. The day’s programme culminated with the touching moment when a canvas signed by all the students of std.10 and Std. 12 was presented to the Principal. Earlier in the day, students of Std 10th had spread over the elementary section, taking over the duties of the teachers. Both the teachers –for-the day and the students seemed to enjoy themselves thoroughly.
On the 6th of September, Principal Madam addressed the teachers and read out a very touching message from the Chairman.. Before this there was an illuminating talk on ‘Knowledge and Skills’ by Prof. Mukund Dixit from IIM, Ahmedabad followed by an interesting talk on ‘Teaching’ by Shri Rasik Shah. Principal Madam presented the teachers with a personalized school diary, a book of quotes on teachers called “Reflections” and a Bhagavad Gita. Each of the thoughtful gifts was well appreciated by the teachers and thus ended our Teachers’ Day or rather Teachers’ Week!
