Parental Workshops...

Parenting is considered to be hands -on job. Formerly it was thought that love and lots of common sense was adequate to be a good parent. Today the complexity of the modern world makes it imperative that parents have help to be good parents. The school is well aware of this and hence regular workshops are held on topics like health, handwriting, behavioural problems etc.

On 21st August 2010, we held a workshop for parents on How to inculcate good reading habits in children'. The workshop was meant for parents of Jr.K.G, Sr.K.G and std.1 students. It was conducted by Mrs.Sushma Vishwanathan, Regional Manager of Educational Technologies, the company responsible for the publication of Time-Life Books. She has 14 years of experience in the field of publishing books for children, conducts regular seminars and is a trainer also. In this workshop, she dealt with topics like the role of a parent in a child's life in this competitive world, the different kinds of reading material and their conduciveness  for children. She also guided the parents on the methods to be used for developing an interest in reading. Special emphasis was laid on read along, read aloud and read alone methods.

The packed hall was a testimony to the interest of the parents. The interactive session at the end of the event saw a barrage of questions from the parents. Some of them shared their problems which they faced with the children. An informative event which surely added to the learning curve of the parents.
